Private Residence Design Project — Nawamin, Bangkapi
Usable Area: Approximately 750 SQ.M.

This private residence is located on a plot adjacent to a major roadway in the Nawamin district of Bangkok. The site presents a key challenge: balancing privacy and tranquility within a busy urban setting.

The homeowner's main requirements were clear: a green, peaceful environment within the home, a space that feels unpretentious and approachable, with no grand or classical elements. Functionality was prioritized over formality, and the owner’s passion for collecting cars became a major influence in the spatial planning of the design.

To address both the site constraints and the owner's needs, the design adopts the concept of a "split-level private home." The ground level serves primarily as a buffer zone, accommodating a multi-car garage, maid’s quarters, and service spaces, creating a protective layer that shields the upper living areas from noise and visual exposure to the street.

The main living spaces—including the living room, dining area, and family zones—are raised to the second and third floors, where they open out to a carefully designed private green courtyard located above the garage slab. This elevated garden functions as a secluded outdoor space, offering natural light and ventilation while maintaining a strong sense of privacy from the surrounding urban environment.

Architecturally, the design emphasizes clean lines, functional layouts, and material simplicity, resulting in a home that reflects the owner's personality—modern, straightforward, and highly livable, all while offering a serene retreat amidst the energy of the city.

“Space is empty in some contexts,

but never truly empty in others.

The architect does not design the void,

but weaves a single thread into the intricate waves of life’s unfolding story.”
